Albatross Heavy - a poem

I am albatross heavy and full of questions:

every social media platform has become a window

into houses without walls, blown clean, free

from the safety we find in our own names.

Tell me, why do we watch explosions

and treat war as firework pretty, as if

we must retweet every atrocity to prove

we exist in the vacuum of information,

misinformation; who is missing?

Do refugees form V formations in flight?

As if history hasn’t already had the last laugh,

with mirrorball eyes and I told you so echoes

& the influencer believes we have all the answers,

preaching in their silk pyjamas.
